License Title: Manicurist
License Description: Manicurists cleanse, shape and polish the fingernails and massage the hands and lower arms of any person. It does not include the application of nail extensions, artificial nails or pedicures (See Nail Technologist).

Authorizing Statute: Code of Iowa, Chapter 157; Iowa Administrative Code 645, Chapters 60-65
Requirements for License: Applicants must successfully complete a 40-hour training course from an approved school of cosmetology arts and sciences. It will consist of 26 hours in theory and 14 hours applied instruction. Applicants must pass the required exam.
Eight hours of continuing education are required biennially, of which four hours must be in the prescribed practice discipline for license renewal.
