License Title: Security And Fire Alarm Installers
License Description: Layouts, installs, repairs, alters, adds or maintains alarm systems. Duties may include mounting alarm system raceways, boxes or system devices and pulling of system cables. Alarm systems refer to fire alarm, security alarm, medial alarm systems or supervisory signal-initiating devices and the initiation of the appropriate response to these signals.
Authorizing Statute: Code of Iowa 100C.7; Iowa Administrative Code 661, chapter 277
Requirements for License:The board provides certification for both an alarm system contractor and alarm system installer. Certification for both is for three years. The certification for installer assistant is for one year.
Fees: Contractor fees: Application $300 Additional responsible managing employee $50 Additional endorsements $50
Installer fees: Application $150 Additional endorsements $25
Installer assistant fee: Application $50
Other fees: Fee for an amended contractor certification $100 Fee for an amended installer certification $50 Fee for fingerprint cards required for contractors and installers $35
